Test connectivity in STAS

Sophos Transparent Authentication Suite (STAS) allows administrators to test the connectivity of Sophos Firewall, STAS agents, and STAS collectors.

Test connectivity with Sophos Firewall

Use this method to test the connectivity from the STAS agent or collector to Sophos Firewall.

  1. Start the STAS application from the desktop or Start menu.
  2. Click Advanced.
  3. Go to Troubleshooting > Test Connectivity > Sophos and enter the IP address of Sophos Firewall.
  4. Click Test.

    Here's an example:

    A test of Sophos Firewall connectivity.

    A pop-up window shows the results of the test.

    • This message shows the test is successful:

      A successful connectivity test message.

    • This message shows the test is successful, but the collector isn't defined in Sophos Firewall, or STAS is turned off:

      A scuccessful connectivity test but STAS is disabled.

Test connectivity with a STAS agent

Use this method to test connectivity from a STAS collector to a STAS agent.

  1. Start the STAS application from the desktop or Start menu.
  2. Click Advanced.
  3. Go to Troubleshooting > Test Connectivity > STAS Agent and enter the IP address of the endpoint device on which the STAS agent is installed.
  4. Click Test.

    Here's an example:

    A pop-up window shows the results of the test.

    A successful connectivity test message.

Test connectivity with a STAS collector

Use this method to test the connectivity from the STAS agent to a STAS collector.

  1. Start the STAS application from the desktop or Start menu.
  2. Click Advanced.
  3. Go to Troubleshooting > Test Connectivity > STAS Collector and enter the IP address of the endpoint device on which the STAS collector is installed.
  4. Click Test.

    Here's an example:

    A pop-up window shows the results of the test.

    A successful connectivity test message.
