Email

Manage email routing and protect domains and mail servers. You can configure SMTP/S, POP/S, and IMAP/S policies with spam and malware checks, data protection, and email encryption.

SMTP deployment mode

You can configure Sophos Firewall in the following modes:

  • MTA mode: Acts as a mail transfer agent (MTA) that routes and relays emails. You can see the mail spool and mail logs.

    Sophos Firewall allows email traffic but doesn’t provide email protection without a valid Email Protection subscription.

    Note

    MTA mode is available only with the following models and higher: XG 105 and SG 105.

  • Legacy mode: Acts as a transparent mail proxy that forwards emails.
