Distribution list owners

You can add an owner to a distribution list. Quarantine summary emails for the distribution list are sent to the owner.

In the Sophos Central Self Service Portal, owners can view and manage quarantined messages for their lists separately from the quarantine for their personal mailbox. See Distribution Lists Quarantine.

You can only assign one owner to each distribution list. A user can own many distribution lists.

Add an owner

To add an owner to a distribution list, do as follows.

1. Go to My Products > Email Protection > Mailboxes.
2. Select a distribution list.
3. Click Add.
4. In Add Distribution List Owner, enter or select the user you want to add as the list owner.
5. Click Save.

If you're synchronizing Sophos Central users with Active Directory or Microsoft Entra ID, you must also assign distribution list owners as the owners of the equivalents of each distribution list in those sources. If you don't, we won't keep the ownership when you next synchronize with your directory source.
