Apps

You configure apps to make them available for installation from Sophos Mobile Admin (administrator-initiated) or from the Sophos Mobile Control app (user-initiated).

App management is available for the following platforms:

  • Android
  • iOS, iPadOS
  • macOS
  • Windows

To make an app available in Sophos Mobile, you provide a link to the app in the relevant app store. For iOS, iPadOS, and macOS apps, you can also upload the app package to Sophos Mobile.

To install an app on a device, create a task bundle that contains an Install app task. For Android devices, iPhones, and iPads, you can create such task bundles directly from the Apps page. See Install app.

Self-developed iOS apps

You can install self-developed iOS and iPadOS apps from .ipa package files that you upload to Sophos Mobile.

When your app is ready for distribution, you must create a provisioning profile for the app and make it available on the devices, either by installing it separately beforehand or by including it in the app's .ipa file.

You can use Sophos Mobile to distribute provisioning profiles to your iPhones and iPads. See Import provisioning profile (iOS, iPadOS).
